Isn't Most Haunted on FTN on Freeview anyway?
The immediate problem, as you say, is the charges on the joint account. Any chance you can get the O/D extended, i.e. an agreed overdraft? Even if you're paying interest on the extension, it'll still be a heck of a lot cheaper (probably only a couple of quid a month) interest than a £35 whack (or several!).
As we haven't got the figures for them, check out Martin's article on phones, internet etc and ensure you're spending as little as poss on them.0 -
Thanks for all the tips guys.
No I haven't included petrol and food etc...you're right.
No excuses on that one really, but I know I don't spend half as much on food as I used to.
I've recently discovered that I've been paying in to two different policies with Legal and General, one was for life insurance only, and the other was critical illness and life insurance, so the LI only policy is going.
I've cut back my dog's insurance from £25/month to £11
My mobile phone line rental is half price for 6 months (was £30 now £15)
My OH's car insurance was £50/month, it's now £30
We were tempted to go to the pub for a meal the other night, but then realised we had plenty in the fridge, so we had quiche, salad, ham, cheese, crisps etc... instead and it was WONDERFUL!!
I am starting to make changes and we've just joined Secure Homes, mainly because OH is paid weekly and I'm paid monthly and everything is just a big mess, so they're sorting that out for us, and we should 'feel' much better off....don't worry, we're not going to start splurging on things we don't need.
I have made a start and I'll suggest the spending diary to my OH.
Thanks again!
Debt as of Sept' 2015 (LBM!): £36,351  (sickening)
Monthly outgoings on debt alone: £1243/month
We're on the right path, we got ourselves here..we're a bit lost, but we'll find our way back again!0 -
Just to butt in here. Secure homes don't look great to me with these charges:
Joining Fee 25
Weekly Accounts £4 per wk
Monthly Accounts £14 per wk
You are paying for something that you can sort out yourself if you amend the DD dates so that they fit in better with the salary payments. There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -

"We calculate the cost of all your regular household bills throughout the year, then divide the total into just ONE easy weekly or monthly payment. You then choose from one of our six payment options and simply pay that amount. Once you've paid us, you can then be rest assured that all your bills will be paid and whatever is left is yours to spend. It's all done in ONE.
The beauty of One Bill is that you'll always know where you stand, as the amount you pay each week or month is exactly the same. Once you've paid us, the rest is all yours.
With One Bill you're in control of your household finances. There'll be no more high winter bills or too many all coming in at once to worry about. Instead, you'll have complete peace of mind, safe in the knowledge that all your bills are paid in one simple regular payment."There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0 -
I agree about secure homes, its really a waste of money. Set up a seperate account ( as they would do ) and set the DDS out of it, Really, it is a complete waste. Also how do you know if you are opverpaying- answer they cerrtainly dont tell you.
Back out, I would
I forgot my manners too- WELCOME!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Hi Chivers1977
You mentioned "We calculate" in your last thread. Does that mean you work for Secure Homes?0 -
Your mortgage payment is just so high. It must put a huge strain on your whole finances. Is living somewhere cheaper an option?0

I doubt it - think nasturtiums being cast incorrectly there. It's a direct quote from their website, so looks like Chivers just cut & pasted it for info to this board.0
