Capital One and DMP. Help please.

We have been on our DMP since September 09. All our creditors have now stopped interest and charges except for Capital One. We had a letter last month from CCCS saying that Cap 1 had told them the name on the account was different to the one on their files. This was purely because the DMP is in joint names but the debt with them is in mmy husbands although I had a card too. Anyway, i wrote to them explaining this, and rang them. I got a statement yesterday and the interest is half what we are paying CCCS, then today i got another letter from CCCS saying that Cap 1 had written to them saying the same thing about the name.
I know i can send the letter again and ring but has anyone got any better ideas, templates, names/phone numbers where I stand a chance of getting someone to actually listen.
Please help-it will take my whole life to repay this if they keep taking up half of what i am paying everyone.
Thanks

  • Hi Elennor

We have a similar problem with Cap1. My DMP letter for my CC went through not bother, a really nice Indian gentleman phoned and sorted it all out for me, froze interest etc, couldn't have been easier. However, OH has a smaller balance, we sent letters at same time and they came back saying that my husband's signature on the letter did not match the one they have on record and we had to send his passport for fraud prevention purposes. OH phoned saying this was patently ridiculous as if anyone would try to pay money on a DMP fraudulently!!!! After two days of round robin calls to India with people just reading a script about fraud, the OH asked to speak to someone from the UK. A chap called William called, said he would sort it out, that was last week, still waiting...... Not much hope there for you but what I don't get is why mine was so easy, I think the banks have a stream system for dealing with things and if you get in the wrong stream, its nearly impossible to get them to move you, might not be, just my take on things, surely the can't just be that horribly incompetant????

  • Does anyone have any uk contact numbers, what department should I ring or perhaps I have wrong address (used CCCS one). We seem to be going round in circles and I don't know who to ring to sort it out.
  • I was really lucky with Capital One. They were one of the easiest for me to deal with. Accepted my offeres straight away and when it was passed on to a DCA, even they were good with me.

My hardest was Royal bank of Scotland. They ignored all my letters, passed me to a DCA who couldn't stop the interest and charges. Finally, last year it was passed to another DCA who has stopped all charges. In Sep 08 I owed £3900 to them and still owe the same despite making payments .

Hope you get somewhere with them soon.
