Where to buy party Essentials for a house party ???

Hello I am holding my brothers 21 st Birthday party at my house on Saturday Evening and wanted some ideas of anywhere on the net I could find some things like Balloons , Banners , door hangers , plates . cups etc .
He has let me know at short notice and ive browsed a few internet sites but they all seeem to be rather expensive .
He wants a green and Black theme so your ideas would be great and do you think I can get some of the items from supermarkets as they do not have much listed on their websites just childrens ones ?

Also im unsure weather to have any party Games or do you think he would be a bit old ??

Tesco & Asda would probably have a good selection. I was looking for childrens tuff on the net recently & went to Tesco & go them for 1/3 the price.

For a 21st I would say they are too old or too young for party games (get a group of 30 year olds & they would love some party games!) But you could have a room with a wii, karaoke, dance mat etc they would do.

You could do some green/black alcoholic jellies.

    Sorry no other ideas

Home Bargains would be an excellent starting point as they have lots of good value low priced goods.
    :hello:
  • poundland has some good stuff for parties
  • Green and Black vodka jellies are always good. Second poundland etc also wilko's for basic supplies. Asda were good for a helium balloon set (if you cant bare the squeaky mouse impressions they will do with the balloons lol!)

Perhaps try Matalan as our local one is a fab source for party ware. They have a huge selection of helium balloons, themed party props, plates, cups, banners, decs and fancy dress outfits etc etc.... everything you would need really!

These are the stores with an M-Party in. If you go on the Matalan site and search for M-Party stores in the search selector it will tell you your nearest one as not as stores have them.

Thankyou for your replies the yall help :D . Ive been to home bargains this morning but I was a bit dissapointed as they didnt have much in for adult parties , just childrens ones . So im going to try a different store nearby this week . However they did have cheap paper plates and they are white , Does anyone know how I could colour them to green or black maybe spray etc that would be ok to eat your food off ???
The matalan store looks good so I am going to try there and tescos tommorrow , as again my local Asda didnt have a wide choice for what colours im after .

Oh and the Jellies are a great idea ive googled how to make them , and they look quite easy to do , Does anyone know of any special tips / flavours to make them please ?

  • if yoo know someone whos a mamber of costco their great for House parties loads of snack ideas plus plentee of cheap booze...
and i find this one alwayz works in parties get a big punch bowl and put in it on bottle of (good) Vodka one bottle of Peach Schnapps , two cartons of orange juice and a splah of blackcurrant cordial.
People will glug it down and it starts a good atmosphere to any party guaranteed!!!! :j
  • found this for ya from my experience you need to leave it refridgerated the night before for best results

Dissolve the jelly in hot water. Stir in the cold water and then the peach schnapps. Divide between shot glasses and refrigerate.

    • Alcohol served in this way is absorbed more slowly. Even practised drinkers will underestimate how much they've drunk so you might want to use more water and less alcohol if you're serving lots of jelly shots.
    • Leave the shot glasses out of the fridge for a while before serving to allow them to melt slightly, so they slip easily out of the glass.

    • You can make jelly shots with almost any type of alcohol, but you need to adjust the proportions of alcohol and cold water to ensure that the shot still sets. The higher the proof of the alcohol, the more water that is required for it to set.
    • Letting the warm mixture cool for 5 minutes before adding the cold water will help stop the alcohol evaporating.
    • Make sure the alcohol is very cold before stirring it in

Hmm, how about making jelly baby vodka? Get jelly babies, or other jelly sweets, and separate out all the green and black ones. Put loads of one colour into a bottle of vodka, and shake well. For this you will obviously need 2 bottles of vodka, one for green sweets and one for black sweets. You might need a little black food colouring for the black one if you don't have enough sweets as it might go purpley. Best if done a week or two in advance as the jelly sweets will dissolve completely, but still nice if done the day before!
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
