Motorhome/caravan hire for Glastonbury

Hi All,

I hope this is the right forum! I'm basically looking for the cheapest way to hire a campervan/caravan/folding caravan or motorhome for Glastonbury. I fancy a bit more luxury this year :-) x

Does anyone know of where I could look into hire? I've tried google but didn't get very far...

  • Don't know where to get one, but if Glastonbury is a washout this year with the mud, then you would have an expensive cleaning bill from the rental company. Maybe worth staying with the tent?

I've looked into both these options before. (Not for Glastonbury but for smaller festivals).

The hire cost of Campervans is sadly extortionate. The agreements state they have to be returned in the state you hired them.

Ditto cost for caravans. Some people will tow the caravan to where you want but then you have to have it totally clean, the toilet cassette thingy fully emptied/cleaned (or whatever you do to it) to get your deposit back.

I found both options to be non starters and the only other idea was to buy a campervan -then you won't stress about the state its in.

I agree with the other poster above.

Sorry! Hope someone else can give you a better idea.
  • Doh, nevermind. A tent isn't so bad afterall it seems! :-)
  • We tried years ago and as soon as we mentioned it was for Glastonbury we were refused point balnk!
    SPC 2011 #758 - no target just a surprise #20 - £365 in 365 days 4/365 Olympic chal #46 - debt free by July 2012 £6739/£18939
  • Not sure when Glastonbury is but to give you an idea of prices we have been quoted the following for camper van / motor home hire for a week-end break in May 2010 (pick up Friday return Monday - typically middle of the day so you may not get the 'full' days use - you need to check).

As mentioned above they are not cheap...........

£395 4 berth VW Camper van
£420 6 berth Autoquest Motorhome (with 3 day option at £315)
    £399 6 berth (type unknown)

Spotted a touring caravan buy it now on ebay for £750. You could use it, hose it and sell it on. You might even break even so free hire!

    SFG x
  • If you buy a caravan make sure the number on the window has not been tampered with and that it corresponds with the number in your caravan log book - if there is such a thing. Don't buy one on the side of the road with the conversation along the lines of: 'that way we can meet half way and save you the journey'. We were watching a documentary the other day about caravan thefts being one of the biggest thefts in this country.

I seen that program too, Shocking stuff !! So many other things to consider to if you look at the tricks of the traders section on the above website for all the cons sellers do. The even have a horror stories page with around 30 buyers stories where they have been conned out of thousands of pounds.
Dont let it put you off buying better to know then buy without knowing :)
  • Hiya

We've recently started a campervan rental company in Bristol with 'Bella' as our first conversion. We've been using her for the past 3 years at festivals all over Europe and last year we lent her to friends to take to Glastonbury with no problems at all. The trick is to be a bit careful but also to have an interior that’s suitable. Carpeted floors and muddy festival just don’t mix = take carpet out!
If you’d like some ideas we’ve got some great pictures on the website: quirkycampers.co.uk/gallery

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’ve got any question.
