Amazon returns

Hi,

Has anyone got any experience with returning items to Amazon. I brought an alarm clock from Amazon (not marketplace) which was faulty. I contacted them and arranged for a replacement to be sent, I had to send back the faulty one. I posted the faulty one back but got charged £8 for the pleasure. Can I get this refunded by amazon since the item was faulty?

Thanks.

Ages since I returned something to Amazon, when I did it was for the wrong item they sent me.

I posted it back to them using one of their label and they then refunded me the postage costs to sent it back

You certainly can, under DSR and SoGA faulty items cannot have any charge associated with them.

  • yes just contact them and they will refund you no problem, i had to return a pair of faulty straightners and because of the cost i sent them recorded delivery, i couldn't fault their service.
  • i return a slow cooker recently using their service. parcel was picked from my house for free on the day i prefer and was refunded after few days.. great service.

I think larger items are automatically collected by courier arranged by Amazon at their cost - my faulty (well, recalled and Acer were dragging their heels about it) laptop was.

With smaller items there should be a procedure for them reimbursing you.

When I was sent a damaged book last August I asked to return it for a refund. I found when I checked my order online that there was a communication from the Return Support Centre, (little note at the end of the order, no other contact), and this included a packing note for me to put in the returned package, and a postage label, both of which I printed out, packed the parcel and took to the Post Office. I did not therefore have to pay any postage, and I had an email telling me my refund was being repaid a few days later.
