Well, I suppose once you've scrubbed, topped and tailed and then scraped or peeled a carrot it might weigh a tiny bit less than when you started! Blimey, some of these recipe instructions make it sound like a science experiment rather than dull old cooking and baking......

I know, but i had already peeled and de ended them, so couldnt work out if exactly the same amount of carrot would weigh more in its grated state.:o:rotfl:

I remember the first time i made a carrot cake - the recipe says . I couldn't quite work it out, so came in and asked a living room full of people , if carrot weighed more or less when it was grated. Oh how they ribbed me!:rotfl: Still, the cake was lovely.:D:j
:rotfl:A bit like which is heavier? A pound of feathers or a pound of lead?

    The 400g is before prep.
The "peeled cored and grated" is an instruction.
ie, 400g apples - peel core and grate them
If it were to be after prep then it would read
400g of peeled, cored and grated apple
