Home bargains sell brown paper lunch bags which are ideal for party food bags. Get the birthday child to decorate them! Pre prepared bags are definatly the way to go for party food.No waste! Also put in a carton drink or cup drink, no spills! Tell them to swap about with friends if there is anything they dont like. I regularly cater for 50/60 Rainbows and Brownies and we either do this or hot dogs which are also cheap. We also find the girls really like traditional party games, pass the parcel etc.0

thanks for all the ideas everyone - am umming and aahing whether to do the brown paper bag idea??? as we could decorate with stickers or pictures of the party theme
or whether to do the traditional table
i will definatley do the cherry toms and tangerines as these can be easily eaten up the following day if we have an excess, was a bit worried about carrot sticks going a bit warm and limp? I will have to check if the kitchen at the party room has a fridge.
thanks for all the ideas everyone, trying to keep to a small a budget as possible to justify the overspend on the birthday present!
for paper plates and napkins do you think Home bargains would be best, poundland is a bit of a trek from me0 -
Do you have an ikea near you? they have good prices on napkins £1 for 50 or so and they are very strong.. They also do smaller sizes which are just the right size for little ones

Hi,
Depends on whether you have access to an oven, but one of the easiest parties I have done is sausage/prizza/fishfingers and chips (even went to the chippy for the chips!) there was so little waste food wise and you could use paper plates for no washing up.
For cold parties I tend to stick to pizza, sausages, cheese, crackers and nuggets (no sandwiches), some veggies and dips and 2 varieties of cakes

I have found that hot dogs and oven chips are the easiest and cheapest type of party food to go for.
I was did a buffet type thing and loads of stuff just got chucked.I would definately recommend "plating " it up or boxing it up all ready per child.0 -
I recently did a party for 40 5 year olds, I borrowed a couple of deep fat fryers from friends and family as don't own one myself and did chips, cocktail sausages, mini pizzas and chicken nuggets. For dessert I bought a big tub of icecream in iceland and cornets. The food cost me no more than £20.0
