Going on holiday in 2 weeks so will be starting serious savings when we get back to try and save 1K by the end of Jan 2007 to fund our sky rocket fund for a jaunt around Europe. Wish me luck!

Have you ever tried buying one extra meal a week (even if it's egg chips and beans, smart price = £1.50) . Then start the shopping one day later each week at the end of 7 weeks you have a free weeks money to put in the savers tin

:hello: Welcome to the OS Forums, beccajane :):):)

Best of luck with your "Sky Rocket Fund"!

Another trick to add to your arsenal, when making a standard meal, say chilli/bolognaise/shepards pie, add equal amount of soya mince to the minced meat (58p a bag makes up 800g equivalent - can be located near the dried pulses in Sainsbury's) and then you can freeze half for another meal. If you also bulk it out with veggies, you'll be able to freeze yet more again. It's the cook once, eat twice principle ;):D

Have a wonderful holiday in 2 weeks time :D:D
