stain on pine furniture

talking about stains, has anybody any suggestions for removing this one ?
a sheet of red crepe paper had been left on top of a waxed pine chest, and a glass stood on the paper. Condensation from the glass made a wet circle on the paper, and (yes, youve guessed it !) the dye from the paper stained the chest - I now have a bright red circle on the chest !
We've tried a couple on things, but without success - any ideas on how to remove this stain ?

Have you tried stripping and rewaxing it? It's quite easy and if that doesn't shift it nothing will. I get Colron wax remover from B&Q and use it with fine wire wool. Stinks though!0

You can remove the wax with metholated spirit using a green pan scourer, hopefully it is just the wax that has stained. If its the wood then you will have to bleach it to try and remove the red mark then recolour the whole piece to finish and rewax. Good luck, i have red stains on a painted window sill that will just have to be sanded down and repainted ! i guess these things are sent to try us.0
