Dmp - responses from cc companies

Ive posted before and said that I was going to start a self administered dmp but was worried about speakng to the companies I owe money to, especially, reading on here how difficult they can be. I think I must be in an alter-dimension at the moment cos everybody I have contacted (so far) have been brilliant - even Barclaycard. Although they did say my credit rating would be ruined and I could never have one of their cards again (well thats a laugh). They also said that interest and charges would be put on for 2 months but after that the interest will be reduced and best of all no phone calls etc.

Next have agreed to stop all charges etc straight away unless I default them.

BOS agreed to a payment and once they receive my soa they will stop charges (for 3 months anyway but its a start)

Just waiting with regards to santandar and my D.P account. Has anybody had any involvement with them.

Thanks
Michelle

    well done

all i would say is make sure you get these agreements in writing, just so you have proof on what was agreed as sometimes the person who takes the call will not enter the information on to their systems so they would have no record of 'agreeing' the terms

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
  • im with santander on my dmp, and they were the 1st creditor to be made offers back in august and only just accepted in january after 4 times. very very stubborn.

Remember when writing/phoning that you are asking them to do you a favour in allowing you to repay your debt over a longer period and ( ideally) without any Interest or Charges.

So be polite in your letter, apologise for the situation you find yourself in and give a reason for it. Prepare a Statement of your Financial affiars ( Income/outgoings etc, template on www.nationaldebtline.co.uk) and give them an idea of what you should be able to afford as a repayment.

All Creditors have heard the reasons time and again so dont feel bad or guilty when you give them, just dont 'demand' anything.

You can get more detailed in any follow up correspondence, dont over-complicate the initial approach.

thats a good response from Barclaycard they were one of my worst creditors at the beginning ..but last month they even reduced the payments again without question ...and still no interest or charges ..as long as you stick to the payments you agreed and on time they are ok

santander / alliance leicester ..would only stick to what they wanted not what CAB worked out i should repay ..but again no interest and charges at the time they were quick to reply and no nasty phone calls letters etc from them so far

next ..they do a review every 6 months but again as long as you make regular payments been ok

Santander have been very stubborn with my Asda credit card and are dragging their heals (even though they are getting the highest figure on the dmp) however they have accepted the payment proposal from CCCS on my DP account.
