Hi Guys
Last year I had an accident and was payed full for the first couple of months and able to pay off my overdraft and egg credit card, which put me in a much better financial position. I still have to pay off my Mint card, and now a charming chap from Equidebt is phoning me. They are asking me to confirm details over the phone, but refusing to give me any details.
As i'm now on sick pay, my funds are VERY limited, and they may stay this way for a good few months.
Can anyone offer any advice as to how I should approach this?
Thanks in advance x

well first thing is to not speak to them on the phone, do everything in writing, get an mailing address for them and their reference number for you, do not give them any details about yourself and just send the prove it letter.
it is not your place to prove anything, it is their place to prove you are who they are after and that you do actually owe the debt, untill you get that proof do not give them anything!Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I do owe the debt, and I want to pay! These people just frighten me

well there are a couple of template letters on this site,
the first thing to do is send the letter which says only contact me by letter as this allows thinking time since you can re-read any information they send and post it up here, telephone conversations usualy end up with them trying to scare you in to making hasty choices there and then, if they try and threats in a letter you also have proof
the next one would be to also send the prove it letter, i know you say you do owe this debt however you can use the 'delay' to help you get more organised you can also ask for a copy of the CCA which would also act as a deley
basically i am looking at it that you are very limited at the moment and you say it may be like it for some months, in this situation any delay you can make could give you that extra organisation time to sort things until you can get back into work and get off sick payDrop a brand challenge
