Apologies if in the wrong place, and I have done a search but it only comes up with this company as a courier option if you want to send goods but I got this in an email and thought it might be of help to someone.
I haven't tried it, and have no knowledge of it apart from what it says below but if it helps someone, great.
Stuff2Send is a company that organises the transport of goods for customers for an agreed charge. If you use a car regularly for more than commuting to the office, you could earn money as a courier without going out of your way. First, you register as a carrier with the company and wait until a parcel delivery coincides with a journey you're already planning. Then you bid to deliver the item and if your offer is accepted, you deliver the item and claim your fee.

I am a courier and the above is not as straight forward as it sounds.
If you are getting paid to carry somebody elses goods then your vehicle needs to be insured for "carriage of goods for hire or reward". If it isn't and you are involved in an accident or stopped by the police then your insurance will be void. Goods in transit and public liabilty insurance are also recommended.
If you want to be a proper courier and not a cowboy you need to price up all the above and then you will find that it's not worth doing unless you can make it a full time occupation.0
