Best Makeup at Beauty Counters

Hi girls - can anyone recommend best beauty counters for wedding make up trials. I will probably get someone to do it for me, but thought I would try out some at beauty counters to see if there are any looks or products I particularly like. I have heard MAC is good, may try Benefit or Elizabeth Arden. Anyone tried any ? I have combination sensitive skin but eczema is getting better now thank god !! Thanks
We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T

Try Clarins - their products are great for sensitive skin, Bobbi Brown is also good (my skin is ultra sensitive and I havent had a reaction to their stuff) - Bobbi Brown will also give you a makeup lesson so that you can apply your makeup yourself. Try also Lancome - remember if you are in a dept store then chat with the girls (and boys) on the make up counters as you will find that some actualy do bridal makeup as a sideline.

If you are in Birmingham - go into Selfridges and speak to Lesley on the Lancome counter as I know that she does bridal makeup and runs her own business as well as working for Lancome.

I was wondering if any of them did occasion make up as a sideline.
I'd read good things about Bobbi Browns, I think they've only just started doing the lessons and they did have an offer on, check some of the web sites before you venture out

i did benefit, and have decided to use their products even though i changed slightly from what she used. Thought it was excelent as she gave really good advice about application, and best products for my skin, and it was completely free whereas a lot of others charge. Its definately worth doing at least one of the counters as there were products that i wouldnt have bothered with such as a face primer, which has turned out to be excellent. Also they then had an incentive that if you then purchased an item you get an item free (the lady told me when this offer was running so that we booked me in during this period, so its worth asking)

  • My sister had her wedding make up done at Bobbi Brown, and she loved it. She has sensitive skin and never wears make up, and it looked beautiful. The lady gave her quite a few treats away with her as well.

I would advise having a look round the counters and seeing what the make up is like on the advisors, and if you see someone that you like, ask if they can give you a mini-makover and see if you like it.

If you have a Bare Escentuals counter (I know that some John Lewis's have them), you could try there as well. I have eczema and sensitive skin and can use their make up with no problems
  • Hi thanks for all your replies. I will try a few if i get time. I will avoid one girl on Bobbi Brown stand though as she suggested an oil-free foundation - that would help the eczema no end !! I do use the Bare Minerals stuff and like it but I think I will need more coverage on the wedding day. :A :T :T

  • I would like to second Clarins - they do a 15 hour foundation which is fab and doesn't upset my eczema or acne. They give a ton of freebies out too! I now use everything of theres as well as the Bare minerals stuff for occassions where I just need a bit of an even skin colour or I've been on hols.

  • I think your right to try a few different counters. I find that Bobbi Brown aggrivates my skin and doesn't give as strong a coverage as the likes of MAC. However, I'm not sure if I'm going to use MAC on the day as the colours are string.
I like the sound of the Clarins so will give them a trial

My daughter has excema too and uses MAC cosmetics as it doesnt irritate her skin and she finds the foundation last all day. She has previously tried Estee Lauder and Bobbi Brown but always goes back to MAC
  • I've never thought of make up counters for wedding make-up, definitely going to ask at debenhams if anyone does it as a sideline :j

Another vote for Clarins, I have really sensitive skin which breaks out in spots and dry patches if it doesn't like the product. I use the dry skin foaming cleanser with the foundation for dry skin and have noticed a big improvement.
