Organic Meat Boxes

I've been trying to find a local supplier of organic meat boxes ( abel and cole are one I've heard of but they don't deliver where I live ) and came across this offer from a local company
http://www.northcountryorganics.co.uk/organicstore/product_info.php?products_id=31&osCsid=d1be09ffce5d520c1b3d68d683683ec4
I have tried some of their meat before as I bought it direct from the supplier at a farmers market, obviously this company seems to be selling it on their behalf. Has anyone tried them before? It seems like a reasonable price to me but obviously I haven't got anything to compare it against so do you think the price is fair?
I realise that organic free range meat will cost more but if I were to get one of these a month then it would be all the meat I would need for a month so should ( in theory! ) reduce my shopping bills. Plus I think meat bought from supermarkets tends to be a bit flavourless

Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

I think that looks quite reasonable, I used to use these :

although not organic they were free range and found the meat gorgeous, their price beaters box was £45 and it almost lasted us the month0 -
jennet1, your link doesn't work - but take the "s" off the end and it does

Are any of these companies actually cheaper that the supermarket? Quality aside for a moment! I've gone through several of these websites and calculated the cost next to Mr T and they've always calculated as more expensive. I know you are paying for a better quality but for someone where let's say has to compromise between cost and quality with food (often with cost winning!) are any meat box companies supplying at cheaper than supermarkets?

I know what you are saying but I doubt you will find a company that sells organic quality meat cheaper than Tesco
These companies are not as big as the major chains and quite often they are selling locally produced meat instead of foreign meat which is undoubtedly tastier and far superior quality so I would always expect to spend more on it than a scragglt piece of Tesco meat.
If you are on a budget and as you say compromising between quality and cost, stick to Tesco.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Quality aside for a moment!
Thanks
That sums it up though. A bit like comparing a Ford to a Ferrari.
Quality meat WILL go further than cheap meat (imho) and will taste better.
Think of all those people with the Land of Leather and Argos sofas - bet they'd wished they had bought something a little better quality.
You get what you pay for. If it's going in your mouth, shouldn't it be the best you can afford?0 -
Its allways worth checking out your local butchers...
ok my butcher doesnt sell organic meat, BUT he does try and source local, and good quality meat....he has the best reputation in the valley, and every day they are queing out through the door to get hold of his faggots:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Thanks all, I am aware that for quality you really do get what you pay for! I think with the meat boxes they would have to provide all of our favourites to make it worth while spending the extra as a box full of half things we will eat and half what we wont!
I still get my half a lamb locally once a year when in season and it is beautiful meat and lasts a long time (cut and frozen!) Then I alternate the lamb with stuff from Mr T, not nearly as nice but it does. Unfortunately I work long hours and am not around when the butcher is open otherwise I would try to get down there more- I would order smaller amounts (there is only 2 of us- often when we buy packs of meat theres enough for 3 but too much for two so I end up cooking it anyway).
