Moorcroft advice please

Hi folks, well, its good news I think - I made them an offer for full and final settlement at £300 in December, my offer was valid til the end of the month.

Moorcroft arent the quickest and have only just got back to me. I KNOW I should have kept the £300 by for the extra 2 months til they got round to me but I didn't as emergency pipe repairs would have thrown me into further debt otherwise.

Ive got about £100 of it to hand. I want to give them the £300, I really do. The earliest I am going to be able to give the full ammount though is 8th March.

Any idea if I can give them the £100 with the rest to follow now they have accepted that £300 is reasonable? I Kept the £300 by for 6 weeks but they didnt get back to me and I have other priority debts!

Any ideas to raise £200 quickly and easily would also work of course!

What does the letter from them say about how soon the money must be paid?

Usually once they have made a settlement offer before they will make one again.

If you write again in March you could include in the letter a deadline by which they must take up your offer (say 2weeks from the date you write), and if they don't accept by X date you will offer the money to another creditor (this focuses them so they don't keep you hanging round for weeks).

As to raising money - anything you can sell on ebay/gumtree etc?

have they given a payment deadline?

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Oh just re-read and saw you did give them a deadline. Well its their own fault then! I'd respond by saying because they did not reply in time you will be happy to make the F&F payment on 8March (its not that long away)

Dreadful company - I had a small debt with them and had been making regular monthly payments for several years. I decided I'd clear it so rang them to confirm the balance and said I would pay it on the 28th of the month, when my salary is paid into my bank account. They sent me a letter stating that they required payment in full by 27th of the month and would put it in the hands of their legal department if they didn't receive it.

Bumping this folks as Im away from home working and have just had a call from home to say theres a letter there for me demanding payment in full by 25th or they are passing my account on.

I thought I had agreed to pay the £300, in full on 8/3. I have budgeted for it (although it means next month is going to SUCK!) and I do not have even a fraction of it before that date.

Now, I know how slowly moorcroft do anything. Theres a chance they havent even opened my letter yet. But Im feeling pressured into phoning them and I cant change the situation.

    What would you do?

Phoning them is usually a bad idea, as they have a habit of twisting words, plus they will probably go back on any verbal promises so you have to be careful.

Letters is really all you can do.
