Im nrp living with new wife and 4 kids
I did not have any idea that tax creds were taken as income by csa, and now I have found out I have rung them straight away to tell them.
2 yrs I have been getting tax creds, but I always just assumed income meant earnings, feel gutted I have got this wrong.
Will they backdate and ruin me or will I have to start paying from now!
Not once did they ask me about tax credits and 1 out of the 4 kids that live in my household is not even mine, so will they be able to take the whole amount of child tax credit for the 4 kids as income? as I thought partners income is not assessed (to me child tax credit for her children should not be classed as my income) how does this all work?
Thanks

My ex had a DEO from last June, based on his wages. In September, his employer filled out another form and included his tax credits as income. The first I knew about it was when I was informed by the CSA that my ex would be paying more each week than he had previously, despite our eldest child not being a dependent from early September 2009. I queried why the payment had increased and was told it was because his tax credits had now been included. Up to that point, I didn't know TCs were included at all. The CSA also told me that they would not take into account that he had received TCs previously, and that his payments had been based on his wages alone.
So from my experience, it doesn't seem as though they will backdate - although with the CSA, who knows?0 -
thank you, hopefully the same will apply for me.0
