just something I noticed in ASDA the other day, some of the main brand suncreams are about £3 - i'm quite particular about which one i have, and got it for £3, in a couple of months they will go up to about £10 and the shelves will be half empty
you can buy now and it won't be out of date by summer!

Great idea, buy now before the price triples but they introduce buy one get one free when you only want one!0 -
Be aware it does have a shelf life, if its bought too early you wont get the full benefit of the SPF which if you ask me, wearing sun cream, its a hassel, even in todays innovative ideas they still feel like your wearing wall paper paste and take ages to dry in...only for you to have to re-apply again shortly after...If I'm applying this stuff, I wanna make very sure it is what it says on the box!
And the stuff about "its not been opened therefore its safe/unaffected" is unfortunetly false, though the cream may not be affected by airborne bacteria, the SPF will still be affected and may not work as well when you come to use it 6 months later.
Sorry OP, this is nothing personal to you at all, I just really think its important not to fall into the traps greedy supermarkets can make to try to cut their losses! This cream would be OK though if your going on a ski holiday or are very sure its brand new (check for dust!)
Just please be careful!0 -
Thats the reason why I never buy them when its on offer. I'm worried about it being old stock and the SPF decaying. I think suncream should have a best before or something on it lol!Be aware it does have a shelf life, if its bought too early you wont get the full benefit of the SPF which if you ask me, wearing sun cream, its a hassel, even in todays innovative ideas they still feel like your wearing wall paper paste and take ages to dry in...only for you to have to re-apply again shortly after...If I'm applying this stuff, I wanna make very sure it is what it says on the box!

I agree with all the warnings above. The emulsion in the suncream breaks down over time, so if it's last year's stock they are trying to get rid of, give it a miss.
However, if you've got some old stuff at home, don't throw it away. Use it as make-up remover or hand cream/body lotion. Must save those pennies!0
