  • Have waitied ages as I couldnt be bothered to try and claim on my endowment, I finally spend 30 minutes collating the info needed and filling out the easy to use forms on the "which" website. 3 weeks later I received a payment on £3610.43, which, along with surrendering the endowment policy is now off-setting against my mortgage.

It's dead easy to do and doesnt take that long either!:j
Never pass up the opportunity to take a pee!:p

That was a few minutes well spent airtrack.
  • hi there ive been watching this thread and would like to say that as far as im aware from personal experience that when you claim money back you do not get compensation you get back exactly to the penny what you have paid over the years.compensation should be extra and above what you paid for being mis-sold the product after all i could have had the money sitting in an account earning interest.is it me who has been short changed or are people getting confused with the term compensation which it quite simply is not!

Its compensation for actual financial loss. If you haven't suffered a financial loss then you won't get anything.

Just want to make sure that if you are reading this thread and are not sure whether to try to claim for a missold endownment then please just give it a go - you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I thought that I had left it too long but after advice decided to give it a try using the template letters. I was expecting a letter back saying sorry but instead I got an offer from Abbey for over £22,000.

That is exactly what should happen dobbers - it is such an unfair system that some have to fight tooth and nail and others only need to fill in a form. Well done Abbey for making it so pain free for you and good on you too for hanging in there.
  • Dobbers:
Possibly daft question but is that recently i.e. within the last 6 months?

Most endowments are time barred now. So, it is a bit late but you may be be lucky and be one of they 25% not yet time barred. Although they typically tend to be the better ones.
