Aw shucks teliac .............I think we are all getting a bit high on your success - it is always good when someone posts a success story but when you have had to fight so hard for it it is worth savouring for a bit longer.

Sob - I am just off to thank the cast of thousands behind this website sob, whiffle, sniff, blub.
  • Best Website by miles!!! Never thought we would be entitled to anything as we left it so late to do anything, but downloaded the letter and sent it off (what the hell, nothing to loose, right). Amazingly HBOS came back with an offer to pay us the difference between our mortgage at present and if we had taken out a capital repayment mortgage all the way back to 1995, what a result. Not sure of the total yet they are still to get back to us. I am truely amazed. Thanks Martin and all at Moneysavingexpert. :T

It is refreshing to see that some companies are willing to make this easy for those people who find themselves in this position through no fault of their own. Well done Lambie, you will be an inspirtation to others I am sure.

Nothing! Mine's old news now. We're all watching and waiting on yours - probably going to be for quite a while, having seen your reply on the other thread.

Good luck, fingers all tightly crossed.

  • Are many endowment misselling claims being dealt with at present? The way the markets have gone I would expect that predicted shortfalls would have increased substantially.

Most endowments are now timebarred and the endowments issue is drawing to a close.

2007 was when the most endowments got time barred. Now you just have the not so bad ones left or the small number of providers who have yet to have the time bar clock started or are still in the three year period.

How very convenient is that dear old time bar thing. If there is anyone left in doubt about who is coming off best in this and getting away with murder, I would be very suprised.

I still have it all crossed for you Crazy Saver - it looks as if you might be the last one dealt with before they close up shop forever.

Yes. Consumers are very lucky that the FSA didnt choose to match law and go with an option that sees consumers have a longer period to make a complaint as well as being told they can make a complaint by a certain date.

Not sure I understand that one dunstonh why does being given a longer period in which to complain constitute a worse option?

IMO there should be no time bar. If you have a policy that was missold to you it does not make sense to complain when it is going to meet target on current performance. You actually do work out to be in a worse position if you have to change to a repayment mortgage midstream. So these particular possible claimants should still have the right to complain if this is no longer the case at any point.
