  • Bank/Provider: LLoyds TSB
    Compensation:£6100

I had been in contact before with Lloyds, having purchased my endowment through Black Horse in 1994. When I first contacted Lloyds 5 years ago, they were not too interested and I thought I would wait and see how the endowment panned out. I recieved my red latter this dec 2006 and decided to act. Had a look at the recovery sites. They were sharks, who charge a lot and were also not interested in my case as I had complained before.
However after one letter, I recieved a 9 page form to fill out, which I sent off and have today recieved an offer of £6100.
As I had not expected anything, i am reluctant to contact the FSA with a view to an increase. Using terms like, I did not fully understand where my money was being invested or what charges were being made , and of course, ' i was not made aware that the endowment may not pay off my mortgage at the end of term' help a lot.
Good luck to all and many thanks martin.:money:
ps. I am trying to claim back my bank charges and I will keep you posted on that. :T

    Compensation £2793
I have just received a letter from Barclays offering compensation of £2793 it has taken me nearly 2 years to arrive at this point I only wish I had seen this website earlier. However because I did not give in at the first hurdle it proves that if you keep going and show the financial institutions that you are not going to give in, it can pay dividends. As an aside can anyone tell me how I can canculate if the amount being offered is correct as the figures provided by Barclays is a mystery to me.
  • also many thanks to martin and this site. I have recieved over £6000 from Lloyds TSB.
I complained that although i had been given the fact sheet and signed it, I was never maid aware of the charges, the fund the money would be invested in, or the fact that the mortgage would not be paid off at the end of its term.
    good luck to all.

  • Bank: Cheltenham and Gloucester/Legal and General
    Amount: £9,000

I was a single parent with £10,000 mortgage, part time job, 2 dependants, took out mortgage in 1990 and moved house in 1998, claimed as soon as mis-selling of endowments wsa made public. It took 5/6 months but I won £9,000 as I didn't need insurance at all as I already had a 25 yr policy in place due to mature in 12 years.

Taken out in 1988 to cover 45k mortgage
    compo 4900
Unfortunately I went thru one of the companies who do the work for you, but this was after being refused compo thru bradford and bingley, who now owned the broker Merretts , from whom I originally took out my endowments.

SIde note two endowments, taken out at the same time, same company, one to cover 37500 one for 7500 smaller one is on track other is a red light.. go figger?

Last year I reported here that we got £2.5k compensation through FSCS after our lender Standard Life refused to help and the original agent was no longer around. This was for an Endowment taken out in 1990 and still has a year to run with expected shortfall of £10k.

And now for the good news. We had prevviously taken out another Endowment with L&G in 1987 which has just matured. Target was £24.5k and today I got confirmation of the maturity value for £29.1K, £4,600 OVER TARGET.

Since my post yesterday re L&G payout of £4.6k over target, I got to thinking about my other Endowment with SL. Since I got my first red letter from SL, I have paid off some capital using the compo and the SL shares plus a little left over when my mum died.

So I checked my account on the SL website and low and behold the current surrender value of that is such that added to the L&G cheque I can pay off my mortgage now (one year early), have about £5k left over and save about £2.5k in payments over the next year. NO BRAINER Oh joy, Oh joy, Oh joy.:j

    Hello
We're waiting to hear from FP about our claim - they have 2 more weeks to reply out of the 6 - so I read this thread from time to time to give me hope. I was just about to sign up to this site and see what I may get - but it does say you have to pay £52.00 is that right???
