I seperated with my wife 5 years ago, I have three kids, I lost my jobs 3-4 months before that.
I did not claim any benefits but received a letter from CSA, I told them I was not working or claiming any benefits they said when/if I start work to tell them.
My ex is receiving Income Support and Tax Credits.
I am starting a new job on Monday (hurraay) do I have to tell the CSA or will they find out anyway ?
Thanks

If you tell them it stops arrears form getting too high, as it will take them long enough to get the case sorted and there is no chance that they will not make a mess of it!!0

I checked the CSA website and I have to contribute £69 per week, my net weekly income is going to be £275 but I have a new partner and commitments.
Do I have to pay this by law ?0 -
From the date the CSA get involved the 'Effective Date' then that is about the sise of it yes!0

The only commitments the CSA will allow are if there are currently any children living with you & your current partner and/or you have your children stay overnight with you for at least 52 nights per year (1 day a week) up to a maximum allowance of 156 nights per year (3 days a week).
Under the normal formula, any bills/loans/debts that you have will not be taken into consideration.
However, there is the possibility that you could apply for a variation from the normal formula if you can prove that certain debts were built up during the marriage for which your ex should be jointly liable. This though, is not an easy process & you should not build your hopes up that any application may succeed.
Failing all the above, then yes you do have to pay that amount by law.
As you already have a CSA case running, I believe that you do have to tell them when you start work again. I definitely would try & put this £69 per week away asap as you WILL receive an arrears bill from the CSA due to the time it usually takes them to process even the most basic of information.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. The way I understand it is that your ex is allowed to keep £20 of the award but the other £49 will be given to her but also deducted from her income support if that makes sense
So she will still receive the same as she does now but with £20 more you could argue that the government get it im not too sure on the ins and outs of it though and i'm sure someone else will post who does just didnt wanna read and run.
I also think i'm sure ive read that the law is changing in April anyway allowing PWC to keep all of their maintainance payments without any impact on benefit but again im not 100 % sure on the ins and outs:j:love: Getting married to the man of my dreams 5th November 2011
