Wax seals - can they be posted?

I have sealed the back of my invites with a silver wax seal, although it is more like rubber once it has dried.
My invites look great, the wax seal has really finished them off.
But my main question is, can i pop the envelopes in the post with the seal showing, or should i pop them inside another envlope to protect them?

Hmm they might get slightly damaged, but it may be worth sending a private message to Custardy (normally found on the ebay board) as he works for royal mailGreen and White Barmy Army!0

The wax is odd, its not like candle wax which i thought it would be, its quite rubbery and tough when its dry.
Ive test destructed a few and they seem ok. I suppose i could always post one to myself and see what happens.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

We had a wax stamp on our invites, we had about a 50ish% success rate of them not breaking in the post, didn't detract from the loveliness of the invites (we were told) but just seemed a shame.,___,

Where did you get your wax seals from? My OH really wanted to do wax seals for our save the dates, and looked everywhere to no avail. But we can do them on the invites if we know where to look0

We got ours from hobby craft, as far as we know known broke in the post!0

I got ours from ebay.
The wax stamp was £6 and i bought 3 silver wax sticks from the same seller for £5 - it was enough for the 40 invites i had to do.
Just do a searck for wax seal, the seller has loads in his shop from A-Z and loads of wedding ones like rings, hearts etc.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

go to any history related place otherwise and they will have the seals and wax in the gift section of the shop i.e. english heritage, national trust or nearby cathedrals (this is where we have just found some after partner could not find one for me for xmas). i was just going to go for one which is an initial as both of our first names have the same one so we can use it for anything.0
