they have written to me saying that it might be possible to get a reduction to a Next account in order to pay the balance off and close the account.
Not heard of this company before so havent made the phonecall as yet because i needed to investigate via mse forums about them. the posts that came up in the search werent full of praise for them so now unsure whether to go ahead and see what amount it will take to close the account (balance being 841 pds)
wondering if anyone else has had them?

They're just a run-of-the-mill debt collection agency. Sometimes they are contracted to chase debts, sometimes they buy them.
It sounds here that they may have bought it from Next (or does it refer to Next as 'client'?) for a few pennies in the pound.
The relevant questions are:
Do you think you actually owe £841 on a Next account?
Has there been a six-year (5 in Scotland) gap when payments were not made?
Did you ever sign an agreement? (If no, did the account open before April 2007?)
You'll have noticed from this forum that we do not recommend phoning dcas - the rule is 'everything in writing'0 -

thankyou for your reply...much appreciated.
will look into the paperwork regarding signing the form, its more likely it was done online so prob no signature as such. the balance is right. what happens if no signature and it was done before april 2007?family of six - grocery challenge - £480 monthly0 -

unenforceablity is a route to try only to buy time, even if they cannot get a court order they can place black marks on your credit file, which can make getting any further credit much more expensive.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
It helps to know the 'status' of the debt if you're going for a full & final settlement deal.
