Hi
I've just bought a little silver teapot in a charity shop for my gran but its all tea-stained inside. i think its stainless steel by the way.
Any ideas on getting rid of the stains? Normally i'd put bleach & boiling water in a tea-stained mug but i didn't know if it would be safe on metal....any ideas please?

i use bleach in my unbreakable stainless steel flask . It comes up a treat. I wouldn't think a stainless steel teapot would be any different.I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0

I used to dunk my tea cups in baby sterilising fluid.....or plonk a tablet in with them.I know coca cola or vinegar brings pennies up shiny.

And what may I ask is wrong with a good honest solution of washing soda?:rotfl: :rotfl:
Seriously, that's what I use on my china teapot, once a week (or so:o ) to get rid of stains and those hard deposits. Just put a cup of soda in the teapot, top up with hot/boiling water and leave to soak for an hour. Good rinse and swish round, comes up sparkling. Shouldn't hurt stainless steel. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
i clean my cups with a cloth and slightly damp salt or bic soda but you may find that the tea stain wont come off completely0

Whatever you do, don't put your hand in it! A couple of months ago I spent an entire afternoon with my left hand stuck inside one, waiting for hubby to come home & free me:rotfl:There's a thread about it on here somewhere........:oEver tried to change a nappy one handed?
Actually I now understand that you shouldn't clean teapots, the more stained they are the better tea they make beacuse of the aged tanin or something.Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0
