Possible Lost case help

Hello,
I've only just come across the Missold Endowment forum. A long while back I went through the action of trying to get compensation for a missold endowment policy. But my case was lost because the financial advisor at the time ceased business years ago. My mortgage is with Abbey in 1987 and the endowment is now with Aviva...which seems to be the case with most threads I've read so far.
Thing is, has anyone else had a similar outcome to mine? I was told to see what sum I received at maturity (2012) but what do I do at the full term because I'm sure it's going to be way low by the figures I'm being given in the past.
Whats going to be my action in the coming future cos I don't have a clue.
