The bit about "only half of 25-34s" is admittedly alarming, but why is anyone surprised that there aren't many 16-24s with pensions? Most of them are still at school/college/uni. I got my first "proper" job (as opposed to summer holiday placements, casual bar work etc) at 24 when I stopped being a full time PhD student. I started a pension then and have been paying into it ever since (apart from 4 years when I was a SAHM and not earning). That doesn't seem stupidly irresponsible to me. Do you think I should have started a pension out of my pocket money when I was 16 and still at school?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I agree. Even the automatic enrolment schemes that will come in from 2012 onwards are for 22 year olds and above, though if people are younger and they are earning more than £5,035 they will be able to opt in if they want to.
The govt stats link is broken atm, but there are also data to show that the age at which people take their first job is rising. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Why all this surprise that young people are not saving for their pensions? Honestly, people of that age hardly spend much time thinking about pensions (unless they are geeks)!0

Its our children whose income tax will pay our state pension. Maybe those who haven't had the great expense of having children should be excluded from the state pension.
