Little bit of advice.

Hey,
Well i'll start off by saying i have a ridiculous credit rating! Due to my mother applying for loans and catalogues in my name and not paying them off!
So a breakdown of my debts are:
Littlewoods: £500
Studio: £180
Laptop: £600
Course Finance: £4500
Mobile Phone contract: £40 per month
Car: £400
Car Insurance: £128 a month

Doesnt seem much, but its getting me down, as i only earn £160 a week!
Turn £100.00 into £1000.00
Decided to start off with things in house, as i have no money!
Currently £38.70/£1000 :T

Joined weight loss challege, hoping to lose 14lb .. currently 1lb/14lb :rotfl:

    Hi skint and welcome

A couple of things - start by posting a statment of affairs to show what other costs you have to pay out of your salary as well - http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

What is the situation with your Mother? are you on speaking terms? what does she have to say about these debts? you could go down the route of informing the police and the creditors about her fraud - obviously thats a personal decision. Or you could threaten to do this unless she starts to make payments to you to pay off the debts.

Which of these debts were run up by her fraudulently and which are your own debts?

Do you think she may do the same thing again - if so you might want to register with CIFAS to prevent her.

Is your car debt £400 in total or £400 per month? do you really need a car? the insurance is horrendous on top of the debt.
You need to look at the APRs for your debts. How much are you paying off the course finance debt each month?

Have you asked your mobile co to switch you to the lowest tariff to save money?

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi welcome.
Is your mum not willing to pay these? why are they in your name if they are not your debt?
    I really feel for you.
The amounts owing on the catologues are small but if they are not being paid monthly interest will make these big so it needs sorting out!

Mobile phone contract try calling them to cancel explain the situation!!
I know for a fact Studio charges are very high so you need to contact them and sort out about paying the bare minimum a month - although your mum should be doing this!!

  • Well, i agreed to my mum applying for the catalogue and buying a new washer, however i said she could apply for one loan, and she decided to apply for a lot! .. Also failed to tell me this would go against my credit rating.
We are not on speaking terms no.
My course finance is £136 a month.
Yes i need a car, as my job is about 10 miles away, and 6am starts, public transport is rubbish
    thanks.
