I have been corresponding with the company that sold me a Commercial Union (now Norwich Union) endowment pol in 1994. They have asked me to complete a questionnaire to enable them to investigate my claim. However I consider that some of the questions are both personal and irrelevant.
Examples:
Q What are your current annual earnings or net monthly income, including any overtime?
Q Have you made any significant capital expenditure purchases (eg caravan, home improvements since the start of your mortgage? (significant is taken as £5000 or more)
etc. etc.
Can anyone please tell me whether I am obliged to answer such questions in order to have my claim looked into.
Many thanks, Lizzybet.

I too have been dealing with Norwich Union for a claim. My endowment was 1990. I have just been made an offer.
I had to fill in the form you have received and i had the same thoughts as you! However, if its not fully filled out they will go on assumptions so i would advise you put down all you can.
The one and only offer i have receieved states full and final settlement. I must admit i don't know if it works like car insurance where you always refuse the first offer! I will post on this site soon to see what people think!

Current income and capital expenditure are irrelevent to your case. This is a common tactic used by some companies and brokers who when they uphold a case, (if they uphold a case) try to minimise the offer of compensation by incorrectly taking into account the supposed savings you have made from having what is generally a cheaper monthly payment.
Answer: Not relevant to both questions0
