I have just launched a Internet Forum for people wishing to get rid of unwanted wood. It does not matter if they are logs or from building work. It is based of the Freecycle forum where hundreds of people across the UK give and receive items that would have gone into landfill. If you are looking for some logs for the winter or want to get rid of some old skirting board you can visit https://www.wood-turnaround.org.uk
membership of the site is free but you need to be approved which only takes a few clicks from me.
kind regards
Bob Riley

bob you might want to post this in green & ethical money saving as well:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
And perhaps you could arrange a collaboration with Freecycle? https://www.freecycle.org.uk - loads of groups around the UK, and I'm sure they'd be willing to help.0

I take it this is person to person dealing with nobody inbetween to check the wood for termites or woodworm?
I'm interested as I'm running out of friends with trees but the insect problem a few people on here have raised in the past does worry me.
cheers,

Termites maybe; I can't see how woodworm will cause a problem as it's universal anyway.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Excellent idea - I'm constantly shocked by the perfectly decent wood I often see in skips and as your site states the cost in DIY stores.
I wish you every success with the site/forum.I do hope you're telling the truth?0 -
Well done and thanks, Fantasy! I've signed up.
I've burnt waste wood from many sources for years, and apart from a stray woodlouse or spider, no problems.

Am I missing something there doesnt seem to be a forum and it looks like shameless advertising to me
In the meantime if anyone knows where I can get some free woodchip to mulch my garden I'd be grateful. Totnes area (TQ9)0 -
