endowment mis-selling advice pls.

Options
I am currently in correspondence with the company that sold me a Commercial Union (now Norwich Un.) endowment pol. in 1994. They have asked me to complete a questionnaire to enable them to investigate the matter. However, the Q. contains what I consider to be some very personal and irrelevant questions. Examples: "Have you made any significant capital expenditure purchases (eg caravan, home improvements) since the start of the mortgage? (significant is taken as £5000 or more)". "What are your current earnings or net monthly income, including any overtime?" etc etc.

Can anyone please tell me whether I am obliged to answer questions of this nature in order to persue my claim?

Many thanks, Lizzybet
