Why don't you bring it anyway Pap, not with the intention of wearing it, just with the intention of trying it on and getting some feedback from us about how it looks, to see if that makes you feel a bit more confident about giving it a try?
It's actually very normal to feel uncomfortable wearing something that is very different from your usual style, but that feeling passes after wearing it a couple of times, and it becomes part of your style. I wish I could show you photos of me a few years ago, horrible straggly hair, very overweight, terrible skin, and a wardrobe that probably consisted of a few pairs of jeans and a few shapeless black t-shirts. The reason I can't show you photos is that none exist, I wouldn't have my photo taken because I hated how I looked, to the point where I avoided mirrors, and once punched my hand through one because I was in such despair about the reflection that kept looking back at me.
I would cry when I had to go out anywhere because I had nothing to wear, and because I hated how I looked so much. I dreaded Xmas, and would pay for parties but then not turn up, because I knew I would look horrible compared to my colleagues and friends.
Things only changed when I was pregnant with Natasha - I had no choice but to buy clothes to fit my changing shape, and everything in the shops at that time was very feminine and pretty, so I HAD to start wearing that stuff. I felt so self conscious the first time I went out in clothes that were somewhere close to stylish. I really may as well have been wearing a sign that said 'look at me everyone' as I felt so scrutinised, but actually, people barely noticed other than giving the occasional 'You look nice today' compliment.
After a couple of weeks of wearing my new clothes though, I stopped feeling like that though and started enjoying it and feeling comfortable in them.
I'm really quite girlie now, but it took something pretty dramatic to unlock that - I'm so glad it did though, I do kind of revel in being a woman and feeling feminine now, which is something I could never have imagined a few years ago.
Just my experiences, and not everyone is the same, and you should absolutely wear what you feel happy in, so please don't feel I'm trying to push you into anything, but just thought you might like to hear that changing your look a little can be a positive experience once you get past that initial   stage."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

That is amazing Snags, cos you are gorgeous and always look lovely. I loathe having my photo taken (hence none on Facebook) and there aren't many pictures of me at all (which now I think is sad but hey).
I have spent the last few years wearing black t shirts and jeans, or black t shirts and skirts (work) with Cardigans! its a frumpy look, that i have been kidding myself is exceptable because I workwith Teenage boys !! but it is n't really. always in black, no individuality at all.
been doing lots of thinking lately about this and work (like I said last night bout the short skirt) and I need to change it ! but like Pap it does feel odd thinking about wearing different things.Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
