Tesco Ken Hom £5 chinese meal deal

Anyone else tried these?

On until 23rd (via the online shop, presume it'll be in the shops too?), you get two mains, two fried rice and one side (spring rolls or wontons). For the mains there's a choice of:

  • Chicken and cashew nuts
  • Sweet and sour chicken
  • Chicken and Mushrooms
  • Chicken and Black bean

I've only tried one of the main dishes so far (chicken and cashew) - the chicken was nice (I'm fussy on meat), and the sauce was tasty. I wasn't as fussed on the spring rolls, but thats purely personal preference. I would have tried the wontons but they weren't available sadly. Still, a cracking deal I reckon....shame I'm not getting another shop in before the 23rd really! :D

  • I have tried all of these - they are fine ....I have however moved my shopping to Ocado, and their Waitrose chinese meals are much better. They cost a little more, but there is more meat and taste delicious.

    We tried them last night.

Quite tasty and good value for the money. On a par with what you would get from a decent Chinese take-away, although smaller portions. On most occasions the take-away meals are too large so would buy the Ken Hom again in preference to a take-away as it is cheaper and just as good.
  • Bought the deal the other day actually. Not too bad actually. Certainly worth a fiver for something different.

    I have just got back.

They had special rice in the section instead of standard rice. They even had it with a lable in front mentioning the offer. The special rice is not in the offer so the till rang to just over £13. Went to customer services and she agreed it was deceiving. She refunded the lot then gave it all to me for £5.
