I think what the article is trying to show is that the house prices figures are being skewed by the high end postcodes in many areas of the country.

Is that not why they do mix adjustment and seasonal adjustment to stop this?

I presume for this article then they are using raw data?

no - it's not the case
the majority of bank bonuses will be paid Feb to April.
    they're announced Dec to Jan
do they buy the house before the bonus is paid?

My understanding is that Hometrack is based on agreed sale prices with info provided by EA's therefore these properties will not complete for a while yet? maybe wrong though.

Who knows I dont think Haliwide really show exactly how prices are calculated. Raw data though with full postcodes is more reliable for me especially when all I'm really interested is, is what happening in my area and the area I want to buy in.

  • Jumps of 10% or 20% in either direction in just 4 weeks are impossible.

Yet oddly there it is, in black (well, light blueish) and white, from the Registers of Scotland. The same source which you rely on for the figure in your sig. Cheapo houses for picts are in the post!

    Gonnay change yer sig?

He might be right - with house prices rising so rapidly, and interest rates so lot, there is still time to buy.

Glad I did so in early 2009 - I haven't looked back. Its nice to be subject to a landlord's dody decorative tastes (only got myself to blame now!)

Why are you still subject to a landlord's 'dody' tastes - did you overstretch yourself so you have no money left to redecorate?

Should have stayed renting, somewhere that wasn't 'dody'.
