How likely is it that my bank will let me change my mortgage pay date?

Hi all, after a recent change in circumstances i have been late paying my mortgage, not over a month, just instead of the 1st of the month, paying it on 20th of month due to a change in pay date!
How likely is it that my mortgage people (Bank of Scotland) will let me do this? It says on their website if you are behind with mortgage payments they may be able to negotiate something. Going to call them tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone had experience of this before?

Cheers in advance
Lynne

My lender started out with the 1st of each month, but I called and it's now 23rd. Doesn't hurt to ask.
