i contracted out of serps in the early eighties, but after a couple of job moves and a house move I cannot remember who I contracted out to?? How can I trace who holds my serps contribution?

    HMRC Contracted Out Pension Helpline on 0845 915 0150.
    Have your national insurance number ready.

    You couldnt contract out in the early 80s unless it was via an occupational scheme. You had to wait until 1988 when personal pensions were introduced before you could do it that way.

    So, if it was early 80s, it may be with an old employer.
