Advice needed **PLEASE**

Hi everyone,

where to start... I've just had 2 weeks off after an operation and when I came back had a 1-2-1 with management and was told that "someone" in our team would be moving to another team as people from all over the Business are going on secondment to trial a new system and they were filling their spots internally. I didn't really think much of it until I spoke to my colleagues and none of them knew about it.

Cut to today... had a meeting with other manager and he has confirmed that I will be going to another team.. this team haven't earnt any money in months and are in a real downward spiral so if I go I'll be losing money.. I have said I don't want to and was told "tough" I have to.. Can they do this?

Also over the last 6 months the team has supposedly been going through a process of "cross training" all this means is that I've been moved around and had my jobs taken away from me on 5 seperate occassions, all the time they are telling it's because I'm good at what I do...

So I guess my question is, can they force me to move to a role where I'll be losing money? And if they do would I have grounds for a complaint seeing as no one else has had their jods disrupted as much as I have?!

I've been working in the Company for 2 year, just under a year as a perm employee the rest was as a contractor for them, in the same team & same role.

Thanks

Whether they can move you depends on your contract. If it is simply another team in the same building doing the same or similar work then yes unless your contract stated a team

As for the cross training. Very common. We would all love to be indispensible and have no one able to do our work as to safeguard our position but companies need to keep people training etc for business need.

Sounds like the other team are so bad that they need someone decent moving into the team to sort them out.

I would raise your concerns over money with your manager, and see if you can negotiate something.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Sounds unlikely as why would you appoint people from an underperforming team to the project.

I would suggest that either the OP isnt as good as he is making out or the other team is fine but its simply he doesnt want to move hence his allegations.
  • for starters I'm a she not a he!

and I was told by 2 managers and a director that they would not move the weakest person to a team where they wouldn't cope.
I don't appreciate you commenting on my capability to do a job, when all I really wanted to know was if they could make me move to a place where I'd lose money. so thanks for nothing

My only worry is that as you are techincally under 1 year as a proper employee that if you object they could just get rid of you.
