Advice Please on 2nd Jobs

Hello I'm new here and need to make some money!
I have a full time office job and my contract states that I can only have a 2nd part time job with written permission from my manager, whom I don't really get on with and I don't want other people at work to know I need a 2nd job to survive financially.
However, I have been looking for a part time weekend job and might (fingers crossed) be lucky enough to get offered a few shifts at my local pub, the Landlady will be calling me to confirm this week.
If I don't tell my main employer about the 2nd job, is there anyway that they can find out from my tax and insurance? It's highly unlikely that anyone from work would come to the pub, so I'm thinking tax and insurance is the only way the lady who deals with wages may find out??
I earn £24000.00 gross per annum in my main job
The part time job would not be much over minimum wage per hour but obviously they have to put it through the books for insurance reasons.
Can anyone help?
Also if I did tell them about the 2nd job, legally can they stop me or threaten to sack me if I take the 2nd job? It would not conflict with the business so I don't see why it should and my main job is monday to friday so it wouldn't conflict with the working week.
I'd rather them not know, please help me.
