Need to find a loan with bad credit/loan sharks

Ok, so this is my current situation. I was employed full time up until summertime 2009 and took the step to go self employed in September 2010. At the time I did not have enough cash (yes I know this was stupid!!) However my mum's boyfriend who has a very successful business of his own offered to loan me some money (2000 pound). No terms were agreed about paying it back, he just said as and when you can when you start to turn over a profit. In December 2009 the business did not take off as I expected it to so I shut it down. I am now worried sick because he wants this money back before the 16th of March otherwise he is going to sell the debt on to a loan shark!! I have heard of this guy before and he is evil!!! So I have 5 weeks today to find at least 1000 of it. I have maxed out my credit card, and because I'm currently unemployed I have damaged my credit file, because many of my payments have been missed. I'm only just managing to keep a roof over my head for me, my wife and my 18 month old daughter! Also my mum and her boyfriend of 12 months have now split up!! How the hell can I get 1000 before then!! any advice would be more than welcome!!

1. Get a Job.... anything, they all bring some money in.

2. Try to sit down with him, relationship breakups can bring out the worst in people.
Sit down with him and try to arrange a repayment plan, something regular. He must be a decent bloke under all the pain to have lent it in the first place.

3. Legally, there is not much he can do as it is his word against yours that this money is owed, but with kneecaps at stake, try to keep things civilised.
