I planned to do some breaded chicken for supper tonight however the paxo breadcrumbs have a best before date as 3/09. They are unopened, I have opened them and they look and smell fine. Gut instict is to use them, what do you think?

If they look and smell fine then I'd use them, personally. If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?0

I'd certainly use them, the 'best before' is an indicator that the quality might not be up to scratch after that date, or might gradually deteriorate, but lots of dried goods keep indefinitely if stored properly
as you say they look & smell fine, go ahead & enjoy your supper
