Defaults

Hi all!
I'm new to this and was wondering if someone can help. Due to my naivity (I believed ex boyfriend!), I got myself into a bit of debt. I have nearly paid them all in full, but I was wondering what can I do about the defaults I have had on a few accounts? Can I complain and write to the financial ombudsman, to get rid of them? Or will I be stuck with them. I'm hoping to be able to get a mortgage with my hubby to be soon so I'm desperate to get all this sorted!
I have a vanquis credit card to help rebuild my credit. I don't know why, my credit went from satisfatory back down to poor again. Even though I pay all bills on time!:(
Many thanks for reading!

Hi there,
I believe that defaults stay on your credit file for 6 years and then they disappear, but I may be wrong.
Someone will be along soon to confirm

You say you got into debt and have defaults so i`m guessing you were defaulted due to not repaying?
IF you feel they are unreasonable then yes you can write and complain!DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Did you default on the original terms of your debts? i.e not make minimums payments when they fell due? if so then the defaults are correct and will stay on your file for 6years from the date they were originally entered.
Once the debts are paid make sure the lender (or DCA) update your file to show that they are 'settled defaults' which are a bit better than outstanding defaults.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
