Hi all,
Just wsanted your opinions on who you would expect to pay for the stag / hen do's.
Originaly we didnt want one to help save money, but our parents and bestman / cheif bridemaid have persuaded us to hold one.
We have told them that we are only holding a day thing down where we live, and we think they are planning on doing a adventure day as a joint activity.
The only question is who pays?
The best man is jobless and the cheif Bridemaid, only has a temp job.
We cannot afford to pay for everyone to come, but are worried about telling people if they want to come they have to pay.
Any tips / advise is welcome.

I would expect to pay for myself if I was asked to join a hen do (and have done so too!)
When my hen do is organised later this year, I expect that all attendees will be paying - I certainly can't afford to pay for that AND feed them at the wedding!!0 -
I would say its no different to a normal day/night out. Normally, if you want to join in you have to have the money to do so, so really it should be common sence of the bridesmaid/best man that they have to put their hand in their pocket. Maybe also have something, as you say a few drinks round yours so if they cant afford the main thing they can still join in?
At all of the hen dues i've been on its been the other way round - the guests chip in and pay for the bride/groom.Learning to be 'good with money'0 -
I think everyone would expect to pay for themselves anyway to b honest. I would just b v polite about it and say it will cost x amount and you understand if people cant/dont want to come.0

A lot of the time theres a set price to put in a 'kitty' anyway on a hen/stag night out- I don't see this as being any different?0

Generally guests pay, and often they chip in to pay for the bride and groom too depending on the numbers going etcBump due 22nd September0

I agree with the others on this - All hen doos I've been on all the guests have paid for themselves and chipped in to pay for the bride-to-be too
Please don't feel pressured to have a big expensive do though, theres loads of cheap but fun things you could do!

Yup - I second the paying for yourself and chipping in for the bride & groom to be.
I've always done this - and I thought that was the norm...
I certainly wouldn't expect (as a guest) for the Bride & Groom to pay for the Hen/Stag nights - especially if I was invited to part of the wedding..!!
If money is tight - why not just have a pamper night at yours for your hen night?
and the boys perhaps could have a Wii night with some cheap beers - it's the people that are important, not the place. Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved!
