Could it have been this Daily Mail promo?

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/prmts/article-1109808/Free-Bird-Feeder-For-Every-Reader.html

Not free though (don't want to get in trouble for posting on wrong board ;)). Collect tokens and pay P&P.
  • No not that, was an actual rattan nesting box?
Think it might have been an advert on a comp link?
Sorry I am blonde - if that explains anything! : D

http://www.bbc.co.uk/breathingplaces/ have a nest box day building a nest box for free at one of their sites.

http://www.bto.org/nnbw/ - it's national next box week soon (I think) and these have a campaign to build a nest box. - did offer a free nest box in 2008

And lots of free plans on-line. That's all I can find in a quick look.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.
  • The advert is for a new drink from robinsons called Be Natural.
i assume you buy the drink and either collect enough tokens from the bottles or lids whatever in order to get a free bird house

I've built my own since the 70s using a set of simple RSPB plans. Avoid using or fitting boxes with a perch near the hole, this will allow predators access. Likewise fit hole protection plates for the type of bird you want to be able to nest. Again this will stop predators such as squirrels and other birds making the hole bigger. You can make these out of metal or perspex or BTO and RSPB badge certain makes and they're quite cheap. If you buy a box always check for BTO or RSPB, BSA and FSC certification, this will mean they're built to a standard and from sustained wood sources. :)
