Sack of potatoes, parsnips, carrots (can get them in bulk sacks from most veg markets.) (for both traditional and home made soups)
Tubs to freeze these things/labels/sharpies
A home made monthly menu planner setting out days for them each to cook and space for a shopping list.
Traditional accompaniments (pickles, chutneys, cheeses)
Good quality chocolate for cooking, bakeware.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott

Depends on how much you want to spend but a subscription / or even just a copy of good food magazine? You tend to get various freebies with subscriptions etc.
A recipe book / folder for them to collate their recipes in? - Paperchase did them and Sainsburys did them over xmas but you could just get a really nice hardback notebook and pen.
A tangine pot for brother if he likes making currys.
Hand blender for mum if she hasn't already got one (you can get them for a £5 now)2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback
