will my pasta look and taste like plastic

i was given a huge 1.3kg tin of tuna over christmas and have been looking at it ever since. i do enjoy the odd tuna and mayonaise sandwich but not quite as much as that. i was considering making some kind of tuna and pasta bake type thing (dont like pasta myself) for ds and dd as i have also found one of them packet mixes. but my problem lies with me prepapring it all ready to go in oven at lunchtime and then leaving it to go in oven some 6 hours later! will it go all chewy or like plastic? and if i am going to make something pasta tuna etc would i be better trying to find easy recipe that will keep till going in oven in evening rather than a packet mix??? any ideas please?? disabled so would need something quick to prep as limited mobility and may need to make in stages

ps any other ideas for the rest of this huge tin?

i make a lovely tuna chilli

onion, red chilli (or red pepper if you dont like the heat), garlic,,, bit of oil, cook up for a bit

put in the tinned tomatoes, pinch of sugar

mild chilli powder then hot chilli powder (they have different flavours)

    tuna

    red kidney beans

cook down gently for an hour or more, let the flavours really mix

    serve with rice

    easily freezable

you would have to make a whole load though with a tin like that. i usually use one flat round tin of tuna (the ones you usually find in a pack of 4) to one tin of chopped toms and one tin of kidney beans

tuna lasagne too, that way the pasta is covered if you are worried about it going dry

but the tuna bake wont go dry, just make sure theres lots of sauce to cover it and put cling film or whatever over it in the fridge

    Hi homealone,

A tuna pasta bake should be fine to assemble in the morning and pop into the oven later. They can dry out a bit so make sure that there is more sauce than you think you'll need...it's surprising how much the pasta absorbs.

This earlier thread has lots of ideas for using up the rest of the tuna:

In need of 1001 things to do with tinned tuna !!

yet again you have all come to the rescue with some great ideas. i think initially i will stick with using the packet mix, rather than waste and hope there is enough liquid not to dry the whole thing out

if it has any bearing on suggestions the tuna is in chunks in brine
