if he pays the rest off in one lump sum. never seen this before. also they say it will not affect his credit rating or anything. anyone any experience of this. i am just wondering where the catch is really!!!

Is this in writing or just verbally?
Have you been paying them, if so, are you on a DMP (self managed or otherwise). It could be a full and final settlement offer by them, but make sure you have it in writing before you settle any outstanding £2K.0 -
