Hi, I received several Freephone Message letters in the post, infact 1 every day for 6 days, contents as follows:
_____________________________________________________
FREEPHONE MESSAGE
Please Telephone Emma Carter on Freephone 0800 9151135 between 9am - 7pm Monday to Friday
Alternatively please reply to; FREEPOST, RSAH-AAZL, Peterbourgh, PE1 1SY.
Data Protection Registration No: Z1832834
______________________________________________________
All on an A4 sheet correctly addressed.
Now the odd thing is I called the number and was asked who was calling and what number were we calling from (I used 141), I asked why they needed the number and it was "for there records", well I didn’t give that up and asked who they were and was advised PPL or PPLS, I didn’t like the sound of it all so said I was not interested and hung up. Now that should have been the end of it but the next day a neighbor called round and told me she had been phoned and the caller was asking "for my whereabouts in the daytime", she was a little shocked at the question and told the caller she was not going to give any information over the phone (she works in a bank you see) and asked who was calling and was told Tony Williams, she then asked how they got her number and he advised he found her on the electrol roll and then used directory enquires. Now he then asked again if she would help and she again said no, he then hung up. Now I though this was odd but then remembered the letters I had been getting so I called the number again and asked for the Tony Williams that had called my neighbor, and with luck he answered, I identified myself and asked why he had called my neighbor to get information, he got quite cross and said we would never use that method, I asked how he thought I got his name then but he had no idea. So my Mr Williams why do you want to talk to me? And his reply was his had been commissioned to do employment surveys and was I interested, I again said no and he just hung up. Now I think that’s all a bit odd, especially the bit specifically asking my neighbor were I was in the daytime, what’s that all about? Now I know iv gone on a bit but can anyone help or have they had similar post or calls?? Iv goolged all the info from the letters but nothing comes back and that’s odd in its self..HELP. David K

If you put the Data Protection Registration number in here (you do not need to fill in any of the other questions) http://www.ico.gov.uk/ESDWebPages/DoSearch.asp
It comes up with a company called Pinpoint Solutions Ltd - which is this company http://www.pinpointsolutions.co.uk/
The are listed under companies house as follows
Nature of Business (SIC(03)):
7414 - Business & management consultancy
7487 - Other business activities
Looks like a telemarketer to me. Someone else should be along soon who may be able to expand on the info a bit more, but HTH0 -
According to this they are a research company, but they are behaving suspiciously like debt collectors to me!

Maybe they are a research company hired by a debt collector to research you.0 -
I think that I would be very tempted to speak to the Police about it. It obviously has you worried, if you've come on here & posted. Any company who goes to the effort to trace your neighbour to question her about you, especially your wherabouts during the day, sounds very suspicious to me. I don't expect you to answer this on an open forum, have you made an insurance claim for injury, if so could it be a company to check on it?0

googled the phone number, a couple of interesting? things come up.

I know that's not an 0800 number, asbo.

Having googled RSAH-AAZl i found this site which is very intresting!
I also have received child like A4 sized letters through the post asking me to contact "DEBBIE COX" on the free phone number 0800 9151135, being curious i called and spoke and spoke with TONY WILLIAMS who wanted to know my place of work and phone numbers. When i asked him who he was and what company he was working for he became rude and aggresive and stated that he was covered by the data protection act (number on bottom of A4 sheet) Z1832834.
He would only say that it was a debt that i owed but couldn"t tell me any more detail than that and hung up.
Being a nosey person i googled data protection and this number relates to an accountants firm GREENSTONES LTD. 9 Commerce road,Lynchwood,Peterborough PE2 6LR so i then got a phone number for them and spoke to a Mark Wrigley (01733 371180) who told me to email him and he would pass on the complaint to PINPOINT SOLOUTIONS.
Low and behold i get an email back from a Mr. STEPHEN MORLEY (managing director of pinpoint soloution tel 01733 343650) so i then called him and was given the same short shrift as id got from Tony williams and told to write in person giving all the details he required from me and he would send back to me the details of the "DEBT"
Now the email address he gave me was steve@pinpointlifestyle.co.uk which of course i google and guess what happened next?
This company was DISSOLVED at companies house in 2009!!!!
I have email Mr. Morley that i had found this out and to my suprise he hasn"t replied!!!!!
My neighbours have also been contacted by this company trying to find out information causing them distress as well as my self
Finally TONY WILLIAMS did state he was from a tracing agency and he was going to find me!!!0 -
As soon as I saw Peterborough I knew I had heard of this company before.
They are debt collectors and tracing agents.
They used exactly the tactics described above with a relative of mine. In 1997 I contacted the Data Protection people and was told that there have been numerous complaints about the company.
Moist interestingly, I was told that the company store their information in such a way as to be able to avoid most of the essential provsions of the Data Protection Act. This was about 12 years ago. Obviously little has changed.0 -
Hi
My first thoughts reading this screamed out TIMESHARE sellers. I once worked for a company that cold called people, gave them a quick survey and if they 'qualified' they would be told they had won a free prize and just had to pop along to a quick meeting, they would be offered a tacky watch or a holiday for 4 to the canaries. People obviously took the hols and from then on were hounded like hell. The whole holiday they would be pressured, there really was NO getting away, the reps were desperate.
Reading on from your post however it does seem a bit suspicous like maybe a debt collector??
I would surely phone the police, they wont be able to do anything but at least it would of been recorded. Hope you find out whats going on.

Want to be debt free :rotfl: (doesnt seem possible)0 -
I recieved one of these letters today, when I rung up I was given the 'employment research' line. I said I had read on the internet that they were linked to debt collection, and then the woman now being caught out was stuck, and wanted my number to call me back, I declined and said I would ring her back.
When I did a man answered and he said the woman I had spoken to had gone out and would not be back today. He again wanted my number, I declined and said I would ring back. When I asked for the name of the lady I had spoken to, he said he did not know her name (even though he knew she had just gone out and was meant to be back in on Thursday!) before I could question him, he hung up. I am now concerned these people will try and contact neighbours even though I know that is illegal. I would really appreciate from someone who has dealt with this, how does it conclude? Is it a scam? Or is it a real debt which they eventually tell you about? Please Help!0 -
it sounds like a scam to me.....saying people have a debt when they dont0

Read my previous post. They are debt collectors.
They are trying to find out your place of employment, most likely so they can place a restraining order on your wages.
They know if they phone you and say "please tell us who you work for we want to restrain your wages" you won't co-operate. They use the electoral register to find your neighbours names and addresses and then phone them saying they are trying to contact you urgently do they know where you work.
If you are in doubt, do what I did and phone the data protection agency and ask about them.0
