Dear all,
I have received a letter today from Wescot Financial Services about a debt of about £80 that I acknowledge I owe. I have been a bit crap with dealing with debt problems, by ignoring letters etc but would finally like to sort myself out.
The problem is, I'm not sure what to do because I'm on JSA at the moment and don't actually have any money in my account until next week and I would like to call them and at least offer them £1 as a token payment or something. Any idea what I should say when I call them? The letter says "you must take action before 16th February 2010" so I do have some time but I would much rather do it now. Or would it be best to wait until next Monday (15th) when I get my JSA and call them then?
I have done the online CCCS assessment and they say I can't actually afford to pay ANYTHING at the moment.
Many thanks

My advice is not to phone them, but to write and send a £1 token payment, they will not like it but they cannot have what you haven't got. Do not speak to them on the phone at all, they may be a wee bit nasty and try and get you to agree to something you cannot afford.0

Thanks, I suppose I have been on here long enough to know that you should leave a paper trail! Would you recommend sending it via recorded delivery?0
