  • I took my stuff into my local jewellers, they did a valuation, some will charge you 10% of the value (big named jewellers), some (one man types) are just nice people and do it for free

avoid ebay. There are quite a few secondhand watch shops that sell on commission, but without boxes and papers values are very much lower.

old omegas hold value very well.
  • I had my grandparents jewellery watches and pens valued at a small local jewellers. I was staggered how much some was worth. They did not charge for the valuation, but I have now had two of the gold watches and a pocket watch serviced with them, and have recommended them to everyone. If they had charged 10% of the valuation I wouldn't have bothered, they would be left in a draw not working!!!
