anti-aging moisturiser

Hi,
Interesting thread as I've been on the lookout for something similar (effective but cheap) for sometime now as I'll soon be heading into my 30's and wanted to try and minimise the effects of this for as long as possible!
I tried Protect and Perfect but it brought me out in spots and didn't make me feel moisturised enough (have sensitive and very dry skin). I eventually realised that it's all a big con and the most you can do is all the things tara747 says, which I now try to do (don't always succeed, though!)
I now only use the Ponds brand on my skin. They have different types of moisturiser for skin types. The light day moisturiser is good if you don't like the greasy feel of some thicker creams. I personally cleanse with the Cold Cream Cleanser and moisturise with the triple action moisturiser for mature skin. It is very rich and makes my dry skin feel hydrated all day. I also no longer have spots and I find my skin looks very dewy and fresh when I have moisturised. My make-up goes on lovely over it and I still get a bit of a glow through my foundation.
People have commented on how clear my skin looks and the best bit of all is that Ponds is about £4 a pot which lasts quite sometime compared with some moisturisers that I've seen for £9.99.
Hope this helps.

Do you have a reasonable amount of healthy fats in your diet?
A (fair-haired and skinned) acquaintance of mine has been obsessed with lowest fat everything for years, dry bread with a scrape of jam, cereal with no milk, horrid gluey fat-free mayonnaises, fat free yogurt etc. She has an absolute minimal amount of fat in her diet and I am being truthful and not unkind when I say her skin has no life in it and no natural glow, just chalky, matte and drawn. There are probably other reasons at play, although she has no obvious health issues that are apparent, but I'm sure this regime is not healthy for her or her skin, although she is happy because it keeps her weight stable.
Also have you tried cleansing with a natural oil like almond oil instead of a commercial cleanser and toner/wipes? This seems to stop the skin being stripped of it's natural oils. I've been doing it for a year now and my (mature !!) skin feels plumper and really well-balanced now. I highly recommend it to everyone. (Sorry folks, I'm always droning on about this!)
My DD did this for the first time last night,(much to my surprise) after me trying to persuade her for ages. She surprised me further by saying how much softer and less tight her skin felt immediately.0 -
This is such an interesting thread! Good points about the oils Bronnie - they are fab for your skin. Too often we concentrate on our bodies and not our faces lol! Your friend must have a very miserably life - cereal with no milk??? Bread with no butter???
I'm trying to lose weight but also try to eat good oils (e.g. oily fish, olive oil etc) often and have started using almond oil to cleanse 3 nights a week (on your very own recommendation
) , and LOVE it. Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Hi Bronnie!
Came across your post when I was looking for something else!
Do you mean to use almond oil neat or do you mix it with something?
Although I'm 35 I still get spots
would it be too rich for my skin, my chin area seems very congested spotty and dry at the same time! would be great if I could have nicer skin there too!
Also where do you buy it from and how exactly do you use it?
Hope you don't mind all the questions!!
Thanks!"Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's

Hi
Wow! was it over a year ago I wrote that!!
I still cleanse with almond oil as does my DD. We use this

I know some people buy sweet almond oil online, but tbh this suits us fine. It has no smell and is quite light. I find it is assimilated by my skin very easily. It lasts for ages and is very MS. I wear quite an enduring foundation and used to be spending out on cleanser all the time!
I decant it into a 100ml pump action bottle. I use it to remove my make-up/cleanse every night. I massage a little in and remove with a damp cotton pad. I repeat until the cotton pad comes up clean. usually make 2 or 3 applications, but very quick! then I rinse my face with water and apply my usual night cream. I find I need very little in the way of additional moisturisation now. The creams, I tend to use for their anti-ageing properties as my skin is very balanced and moisturised from the almond oil alone.
My skin is fairly normal, although used to feel tight. It never feels tight now. All I can suggest is you give it a try for a week or 2 and see. Nothing to lose really!0 -
Aaawww
THANK YOU for taking the time to reply Bronnie! :T
Must be good if your still using it!
So you don't mix it with anything you just use it pure?
I think I will buy some and give it a try like you say nothing to lose, if it doesn't suit me will have to eat it or feed it to the dog or something!!"Things can only get better.................c/o D:Ream #The 90's
