No vegetarian main? That is rather rubbish of Tesco.
Think they'd let me have another bottle of wine instead? *laughs*

This is the current "Dine In" deal (for £9) which was in store from last week. Just checked the website & it states:

Finest Meal for two for £9! Choose 1 main, side, dessert and bottle of wine to qualify. Offer ends 9th February 2010 - valid from 02/02/2010 until 09/02/2010

There should be a different deal from 10th? Possibly £10 as OP stated?

    S xx

  • Ah yes you are right. It's slightly misleading though as I clicked through the Valentines Day offers to get to it.

I shall remove the info to avoid confusion.

I have a slight grumble that all of these Dine In offers have wine as the only choice of drink, and I don't like it. Reckon they'd let me swap it for a 4 pack of Strongbow instead?:rotfl: They should have a couple of different options though

  • At least the wine can be given away as a pressie or a school tombola!...But it does really annoy me that none of the supermarkets consider vegetarians ever on any of these deals!!!

Hah no, just a non-wine drinker. Maybe I wouldn't go for a 4-pack, but it would still be nice to have some choice, a nice bottle of Old Rosie maybe? Or a choice of real ales for the men?

To be fair, in a world acutely aware of binge drinking, problems with drinking during pregnancy, etc. there probably should be a non-alcoholic alternative. I guess the problem is keeping it simple. They probably a) want to keep their middle class profile, and b) want to avoid 1 wine = 4 beers = 2 ciders + 2 beers = 2 beer = non alcoholic drink = 3 non alcoholic drinks etc etc.

I suppose the only solution would be to have X amount taken off drinks. However, I suspect the wine they get get really big discounts. IE learn to love wine :)
